Welcome to the Blyth Community Church Website.

Blyth Community Church is a small independent church in the town of Blyth on the Northumberland coast (see our locator map) with people from a number of church backgrounds and un-churched backgrounds. We meet together to worship God, to grow together as Christians, and to tell others about the Good News of Jesus Christ.

St George's Day treat!

One of the UK's Creation Ministries International speaking team will be visiting the North East on St George's Day, 23rd April 2013 (DV).

Dr Don Batten will be "Exploring the Credibility of Creation" at the Living Waters Church, St. Jude’s Terrace, South Shields, beginning at 19:30, and the postcode for your satnav is NE33 5PB. After turning into St Jude's Terrace, go west to what looks like the end of the road (but isn't) and follow it round to the right. The Living Waters Church will be ahead of you. It's hard to believe that, out of the whopping 80 million chocolate Easter Eggs sold each year, not one of them mentions Jesus on the box. Until now that is.

The Real Easter Egg from The Meaningful Chocolate Company is the first and only Fairtrade chocolate Easter Egg to explain the Christian understanding of Easter on the box. It also supports charity and development projects.

Prison Christian Fellowship Open Evening

Prison Christian Fellowship will be having an Open Evening where members will share news of the work and tell of opportunities to get involved. There will be information specific to our area and the work in HMP Northumberland. It's to be held (DV) on Tuesday 9th April 2013 at the New Life Christian Centre, 24 Dacre Street, Morpeth, NE61 1HW, beginning at 19:30. Free parking is available on the adjacent Morrison's car park.

The Good Life?

The World Wide Web can be a treacherous place. Yesterday, for example, I stumbled across a video recording of a debate between famed militant atheist Richard Dawkins and the Cardinal Archbishop of Sydney George Pell. It's interesting to record in passing that Dawkins, a scientist who knows nothing about theology, is happy to debate a theologian who knows nothing about science but resolutely refuses to debate a scientist who knows about theology. We can only guess why that is. In the debate, questions were put to both participants by members of the audience, and the first somewhat rambling question boiled down to "Can an atheist live a good life?" to which both protagonists responded "Yes".
