Welcome to the Blyth Community Church Website.

Blyth Community Church is a small independent church in the town of Blyth on the Northumberland coast (see our locator map) with people from a number of church backgrounds and un-churched backgrounds. We meet together to worship God, to grow together as Christians, and to tell others about the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Our meeting times are

  • SUNDAY 10:45am - Church Service
  • WEDNESDAY 7:00pm - Drop-in Session (come and see what we're about)
  • THURSDAY - Bible Study

These meetings are held at Croft Hall, Oxford Street (behind the Old Fire Station; see link to map above).

If you are a visitor to the site we'd love to hear from you. Please click the Contact us! link, which is also available on any of our pages, in the navigation block on the left. "Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us"

Anyone who thinks the life of faith is easy - "God has a great plan for your life" - had better check out the reality by reading 2 Corinthians 11:24-28 (NLT).

It's 1992. It's Barcelona. Derek Redmond is expected to win the 400m race. But things don't always go according to plan. If you're finding the Christian race a difficult run, take heart from this story. Your Father has guaranteed to help you over the finishing line, though you be in despair, in pain and in tears.

Drop-In Sessions

We are currently holding drop-in sessions on Wednesday evenings. Our church building will be open from 7pm onwards for anyone to call in to see what we are about. A few church members (enough to be welcoming, not enough to be intimidating!) will be on hand to answer any questions you may have, including the BIG questions of Life, the Universe and Everything.

There are light refreshments and a virtually unlimited supply of tea and coffee.

Go on - give us a try! You've nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Give Thanks

Paul said "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT). Here's a different perspective on giving thanks, contributed by Abby to 5 Loaves & 2 Fishes Christian forum. There really are reasons for giving thanks, even though they're not so obvious at first:

Thank You

For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato,
because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes,
because it means she is at home, not on the streets.

For the mess to clean after a party,
because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

Eternity

Arthur Stace was born in poverty on 9th February 1884 in Sydney, Australia, the son of alcoholics who himself became an alcoholic by his mid-teens. He joined the army and fought in World War 1, returning home half blind in one eye and having been gassed. He continued his alcoholic habits and eventually all he could afford was methylated spirits.

In 1930 he was in Central Court and not for the first time when the magistrate said: "Don't you know that I have the power to put you in Long Bay jail or the power to set you free?" "Yes Sir" , he replied, but it was the word power that he remembered. What he needed was the power to give up drink.
