You must be born again.

Texts: John 3:1; 1 Corinthians 15:50; Romans 3:23.

Background: Nicodemus comes to speak with Jesus at night.

Key: Jesus is relating to Nicodemus in earthly terms about entrance to the kingdom of God. John Wesley preached for many years in the eighteenth century throughout England, Scotland, Wales and in the Americas. The most used subject was undoubtedly about the need for being "born again." Someone once asked him why he preached about the need to be born again. His answer was because you MUST BE BORN AGAIN. In fact, Jesus was emphatic at John 3:3 when He insisted that one must be born again.

ESSENTIALS OF THE GOSPEL: We are all born into sin. Romans 3:23; 5:17-18; 6:23. We must be born again. The problem is HOW! God needs YOU to join Him in heaven. Romans 10:14. Jesus came from heaven John 3:13; John 8:23. He came directly from God the Father to seek out YOU. Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose again on the 3rd day (days and nights) FOR OUR SIN. He gave us His righteousness in exchange for your sin. Putting our complete trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, John 3:16. God loves you and desires a relationship with you, but you must accept Him as He is. He already accepts you as you are. You must accept Him unconditionally. John 3:11; Romans 10:9.
