We believe that the 66 books that comprise the Bible are the complete, divinely inspired Word of God, inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts, and the guide and final authority in matters of faith and day to day life, taught by the Holy Spirit to each believer.
We believe that there is one God who is eternally existent in three co-equal persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that God created everything good, out of nothing, in six days, for His own pleasure and purpose.
We believe that the first man, Adam, was created in the image of God, but when he sinned, mankind incurred both physical and spiritual death; the historical fall of man resulted in all people being born with a sinful nature, hence man's tendency to do evil, his guilt, his enmity towards God, and his subjection to God's judgement and just wrath; thus mankind became totally separated from God and is incapable of providing redemption for himself, and therefore needing to be born again, an experience available only through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that when man fell, all of creation was cursed, and is subject to destruction.
We believe in the historic virgin birth of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten of the Father through the Holy Spirit. We believe in His true Manhood without His ceasing to be God. Thus He is the God-man.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ lived a perfect and sinless life that fully pleased His Father; that He gave Himself of His own free will to be the sacrifice for the redemption of man on the cross, once for all, and that He bore the judgement demanded by God's holy justice against sin, thus making it possible for God to remain just and yet at the same time justify those who trust in the full payment made by His Son Jesus Christ in his death and shed blood on the cross.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ rose in His changed, imperishable human body from the dead, never to die again, and having appeared to many witnesses, ascended to the right hand of the Father where, as high priest of His Church, He mediates between God and those who are repentant believers.
We believe that those who by faith alone and through no merit or good works of their own trust in Christ Jesus as the only Saviour, who paid for their sins on the cross are miraculously born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God and become partakers of eternal life.
We believe in following the Lord Jesus by adherence to the teachings of the New Testament, and the Old Testament as it is interpreted in the light of the New Testament, and by daily consecration to God.
We believe in going out and preaching the gospel to all, and making disciples of all who believe, in accordance with the instructions of Jesus Christ Himself.
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, and the necessity of His work in convicting people of their sin, and bringing people to an awareness of their need of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus baptises all true believers into the one true Church with the Holy Spirit at conversion, and that the Holy Spirit thenceforth indwells them, bestows gifts upon them, and empowers them for service and holy living. We believe in the need to be daily giving ourselves to God in consecration, considering ourselves dead to self, and the continual need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Church consists of those who have truly received Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, and are thus baptised in the Spirit and indwelt by Him. We believe that all in the Church constitute the priesthood of all believers. We believe that the local church is a local expression of the body of Christ, and that the assembly of believers is united for the purpose of corporate worship of God, edification through the Scriptures, mutual encouragement, and united in carrying out the Great Commission to preach the Gospel to all humankind, baptising and discipling those who have believed.
We believe in the existence and personality of Satan, his complete opposition to God, His Word and His people; we believe in Satan's power over the unregenerate. We believe in his defeat at Calvary and his ultimate punishment.
We believe that the Scriptures have revealed to us everything we need for life and godliness, including not only the message of salvation from the penalty of sin but instruction in righteousness for present sanctification and victorious living to the glory of God.
We believe that two ordinances are to be observed by all believers in obedience to our Lord until his return:
believer's baptism, which does not convey eternal life - it is not essential to salvation;
the Lord's Supper as He instituted it, not as a sacrifice for sin, nor involving any change in the substance of the elements, again not essential for salvation.
We believe in the resurrection of the body, and the judgement of all by the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the final destiny of man at death is:
everlasting life in the presence of God for the saved;
eternal separation and everlasting damnation for the lost because of their unbelief, as they remain unsaved in their sins.
We believe in the future visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to gather the Church, His Bride, as He promised.
We believe in God's future creation of a new heaven and a new earth, perfect and devoid of the effects of the curse of the fall.
As well as the above beliefs, Blyth Community Church also holds to further supplementary statements. In each case we believe that adherence to false ideas will adversely impact the growth and maturity of individual believers, and also bring disunity and strife to the Church (Romans 16:17), and hinder its work and faithfulness to the Lord Jesus. In each case the truth and sufficiency of Scripture is our sure guide to discern what is right or wrong. The statements below are backed up by detailed notes which the church may draw upon as needed.
We do not believe in the "Faith movement." We do not believe in the demon possession of Christians.
We do not believe that the so-called "Toronto blessing," the "Pensacola outpouring or the "Lakeland Revival" are examples of genuine moves of God.
We do not believe in the necessity or efficacy of modern "spiritual warfare" techniques, such as "strategic level spiritual warfare" or "spiritual mapping."
We do not support the new apostolic and prophetic movement.
We do not believe in the ecumenical movement.
We do not believe in "Replacementism."
We do not believe in the validity of the "Emergent church" movement.
